What we can help with

  • Accessing library eBooks, audiobooks and magazines on your device
  • Job search assistance (resume creation, online application portals, etc.)
  • Basic use of iPad, Kindle, Android devices
  • Basic use of a computer, laptop or the Internet
  • Setting up a Facebook, email or other account

*Disclaimer: Library staff are not technology support technicians and can only offer basic assistance.  We are not able to troubleshoot/repair malfunctioning or broken hardware or software.  For in-depth assistance, we may refer you to an appropriate local business.

Important need-to-know

  • Front desk staff can provide walk in assistance with basic issues. If something is going to require more than approximately 15 minutes, we will ask you to make an appointment.
  • Patrons may use their own device (phone, tablet, laptop) during a one-on-one session. However, library staff may not be to assist with non-standard hardware or software.
  • You must know your passwords for email and other accounts. We can walk you through the password recovery process but if it is tied to an old phone number or account you no longer can access, there is a limit to what we can do.
  • In order to protect your privacy, library staff should not be asked to do things that involve them having access to personal data such as social security numbers and credit card or banking information. We can guide you to websites where you might enter this information yourself, but for your won protection, we ask that you not hand us things like social security or banking details.
  • Library staff are not able to troubleshoot/repair malfunctioning hardware or software.
  • Library staff are instructed to not handle your personal equipment for liability reasons. Staff will guide you through using the equipment and will only touch your device in limited situations and with your permission.
  • The goal of these sessions is to help you learn how to use technology, not to perform tasks for you. If you require more than two sessions of instruction, additional assistance will be provided only with approval from the Library Director.
  • One-on-ones should be scheduled at least an hour in advance unless you speak directly to a staff member.
